Gregory
J. Raphael, of Garden City, New York, is a founding
partner of the New York law firm of Ryan &
Raphael, P.C. The firm specializes in the areas of
personal income taxation, estate planning and estate
administration, including
preparation of wills, and trusts, real property
transactional law, employment law, and business law with
emphasis on representation of individual clients and small
businesses.
Prior to forming Ryan & Raphael,
P.C. in 2000, Mr. Raphael was a partner in the law firm of
O’Connor, Murphy, Ryan & Seitz, first as an
associate in 1985, then as partner from 1992. Previously,
he was a legal intern in the office of the New York State
Attorney General.
Mr. Raphael was appointed by Governor George E.
Pataki to serve as one of five directors of the Nassau
Interim Finance Authority (NIFA) which monitors and
oversees the finances of Nassau County with the power to
issue bonds and notes for County purposes, and to impose
hard control mechanisms to restore and maintain county
fiscal stability.
In addition, Mr. Raphael was nominated by the
Governor, and approved by the Senate, to become a Director
of the State of New York Mortgage Agency (SONYMA) which is
a public benefit corporation created to advance the
State’s goal of providing affordable mortgages to low
income families.
Mr. Raphael was also nominated and approved by the
New York Catholic Archdiocese as a board of director of
the Kennedy Child Study Center in New York City.
He is admitted to practice law in the courts of the
State of New York, and the Southern and Eastern Districts
of Federal Court. He graduated from St. John Fisher
College in 1981 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Management,
and graduated in 1985 with a J.D. Degree from St. John’s
University.
George L. Ryan, of Vero Beach,
Florida is a founding partner of the New York City
law firm of Ryan & Raphael, P.C. The firm
specializes in the areas of personal income
taxation, estate and gift tax planning and
administration including preparation of wills and
trusts, real property transactional law,
employment law, and business law with emphasis on
representation of individual clients and small
businesses.
Prior to forming Ryan &
Raphael, P.C. in 2000, Mr. Ryan was a
partner in the law firm of O’Connor, Murphy,
Ryan & Seitz, first as an intern while
attending NYU Law School (1961-1964) then, upon
graduation and passing the Bar exam, as an
associate in 1964 and finally as a partner from
1969 to 2000.
Mr. Ryan graduated from Holy Cross College
in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1961 with a B.A.
degree in Economics.
Many of his personal tax clients over those
many years transitioned from acting as employees
of public companies to creating highly successful
entrepreneurial businesses resulting in his
serving on their Boards of Directors or acting as
their outside counsel in such diversified
industries as Health Care, Broadcasting,
Advertising Sales, Private Label Manufacturing,
Public Relations, Search Firms, Printing and Bulk
Paper Sales.
He served as the attorney for the
U.S. Ski Team from 1980 to 1985 and for NFL Films
from 1976 to 1980.
He has served as a Director of the Breezy
Point Cooperative, a NYC ocean front 2800 family
residential community from 2000 to 2003 and
currently is a member of the Board of Governors of
the Orchid Island Golf & Beach Club, a 375
family residential community in Vero Beach,
Florida.
